      Hi Shivakanth,

      Directory Server is a generic term used for applications which helps in providing security such as Authentication over LDAP. 

      LDAP (LIGHT WEIGHTED DIRECTORY ACCESS PROTOCOL) has different flavours like OID, OUD, AD, iPlanet, Sun One, Apache Directory Server and so on.

      Directory servers are widely used for providing SSO(single sign on).

      Hi Sameesh, 


      Sorry for such a late response.


      You must start learning from Oracle Official Documents to get the idea in more structured way. Latest version is 11GR2PS3. 


      First get the idea why any enterprise need OIM, And get the basic idea how OIM helps them to solve Identity and Access Management needs. Basically the security related requirements.
